I started my Disney Instagram account when I started this blog, so I’ve had it for over a year now and still to this day I love it and I’m so glad I started one!
I thought to share my experience on starting a Disney Instagram account and how I’ve gained followers so far.
Obviously, firstly, think of a Instagram account name – can be Disney related or whatever you like! However, Disney related names do seem to work better in terms of getting followers because the people don’t have to look at your feed to know you’re a Disney account, you get me?
There are LOTS of Disney Instagram accounts, so you may find it difficult to find an account name available but fingers crossed!!!
Feed:
Once you have your name sorted out, you may like to think of a style of feed you want to produce. For example, you may want to just post images of clothes and merch, or you may want a specific colouring style on your images. I started off my account just posting random Disney related content, without editing them. But, now to make it a bit different to other accounts, I add a purple tint from the Lightroom App to my photos. There’s so many filters and presents out there to chose from, and of course so many apps to download and test out to find a style you like! It seems like feeds that are bright and colourful, seem to have a good following simply because they’re feed looks so appealing and pleasing! However, if you aren’t bothered about how your feed will look, then go ahead and do whatever you like – that’s what I did at the start!
Following accounts:
Finding other Disney accounts to follow on Insta, is so simple! Like I said, there are so many Disney fan accounts out there, that you’ll constantly be coming across new accounts you’ve never even seen before! You can start off by searching on Instagram for a popular Disney account. And then keep searching Disney related words to find accounts associated with it. Or, what I like to do is find an account I like and go through their followers list and follow the Disney related accounts. This has always worked well with me.
HIGHLIGHT Stories:
I personally don’t have highlight stories on my feed atm, mainly because I don’t really have anything I feel is worthy to be there. But, when I next go to a Disney park on holiday, I will be highlighting it! It does seem like this is a similar thing for a lot of Disney accounts, where they document their holiday on their highlights so people can view it whenever.
Disney Creators:
Something you may come across when finding new accounts is that there are loads of Disney creators out there. So many people in the community are selling their own Disney style merch and products. Mainly, all of them have an Etsy shop and so their Disney Instagram account is their promotion page – which I think is brilliant! The Disney Instagram community is the sweetest fanbase I have ever been apart of (I mean, how could it be bad ITS DISNEY??!?!). Therefore, it’s so nice the support you can receive either from just starting an account which I got the first day I started my account, or if you have an Etsy shop, the amount of sharing people do for your products. I think it would be wise to think about supporting people because it does help out a small, independent, handmade business so much! You can either share a post on your stories, comment, or make an actual post for your feed.
Stories:
Another thing is stories on Instagram. Sometimes in the Disney community, there may be a trend of a story template going around which you can tag other accounts in to take part. I love these because it can give you an insight into your followers more. Such as, a template could be a simple ‘About Me’ story. You can include GIFs or use text to write your answers and then tag others – also helps to build friendships and get talking to people! Again, people love to view stories when they know you’re on a Disney trip, so if you do go away, then document it! People enjoy seeing what you get up to; especially in Disney!!!
Hashtags:
Hashtags are obviously a well used thing on Instagram in your post captions. There’s plenty of Disney related hashtags out there, so do use them because it can help people find your page and follow you! Also, if you are in the parks or even a store posting some Disney items, you can add the location to your post so people know where it is without you needing to say it!
Bio:
Normally in a Instagram account people tend to find it a bit cringe to include your age and where you live (no hate just what I see people say online etc). On my personal account, I wouldn’t include this information in my bio, but my Disney account I wanted to. It’s nice to tell your followers where you are from aka the UK and your age. I think the location is defo a good idea because of how widely spread Disney fans are, along with the parks being in different countries. However, again this is an up to you option as to whether you want to disclose that information.
The Disney Instagram accounts are so so nice. Everyone is so friendly and caring, it’s such a lovely community to be apart of! If you are thinking about starting a account, then please do!! I doubted myself and thought at the beginning ‘am I going to use this that much or will it just die down’, but I love being able to share content that I wouldn’t share to on my personal account. It’s just so fun and enjoyable to be apart of the community on Instagram!
