Some of you may be thinking… Georgia why are you including Universal Studios in your Walt DISNEY World prep series.. I get it, they’re competitors, but this is a preparation series and a lot of people who visit Disney World, also head over to Universal for a few days. That’s what I’m going to be doing so I wanted to include it incase there is any help I provide people.
Don’t get me wrong, when I think about my Disney trip, I often tend to forget about the fact I have purchased Universal tickets aswell, but I am super excited to see those parks too!
From what I’ve seen, Universal Studios looks amazing. It looks so colourful and there’s something to look at every turn you take, and it’s nice to have a park dedicated to other bits of my childhood. There’s so much to do that I won’t be able to touch on it all within one post, but I will do other posts on the other Universal parks, so this one is just focused on the Universal Studios.
Universal Studios have a mixture of people’s favourite films and TV shows as attractions. This includes:
– E.T Adventure = I’ve heard great things about this ride and it seems to be a favourite for a lot of people, it also makes some people cry because of how sweet it is?!?! The concept of the ride is that you sit in a bicycle and you help E.T save his home planet. It’s a kid friendly ride so it won’t be anything too extreme or scary.
– Rip Ride Rockit = This ride I AM SO EXCITED FOR. However, Joe is certain he won’t be going on this ride with me…but anyway, I’ll take one for the team and go on it! I love a rollercoaster ride which is fast and have loops, and that is exactly what this ride is. But, this ride seems even more fun that others, because you get to chose a soundtrack to play as you go round. There will be a selection of songs for you to pick from, which is blasted through the speakers in your chair. I watched a video on this ride to see why Joe wouldn’t go on it, and I get it, it is thrilling ride so be prepared, but for ride lovers like me, I think this could possibly be one of my favourite rides ever.
– The Simpsons Ride = Another ride I’m excited for, considering I spent so many nights eating my dinner watching the Simpsons with my family as a kid. This ride is a virtual reality ride, which could potentially create some motion sickness so keep that in mind! You get to be with the main Simpson characters throughout this ride as you try to stop the sabotage of Krustyland
– There’s also other rides including Sherk 4D, Men in Black and Transformers.
A real massive feature to the Universal parks is The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. There’s 2 parts to Harry Potter, one land in Universal Studios and the other in Islands of Adventure. It truly looks insane and like you are in the movie. I can’t wait to finally experience this in real life instead of just seeing it through YouTube. Everyone absolutely loves it and is blown away with how incredible it is. There’s shops, restaurants and rides – it’s like it’s own park within a park! I have tried to keep this part of Universal more hidden from myself so I can fully experience it all in person and have some surprises for when I’m there.
Another amazing thing, is that you can get the Hogwarts Express over to the other land of Harry Potter. So, not only is there 2 lands, you even get to go on a train that takes you there, which is the HOGWARTS EXPRESS…HOW COOL IS THAT?!?! It’s fantastic how they have made this seem so real to the film and joined them together by the train journey.
You’ve also got the brand new Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, which granted had a bit of bumpy opening with some issues, but it’s great for the land to have a new attraction years after its opening.
Much like Disney, Universal offers plenty of things to see. They have parades and special events throughout the year to link with the seasonal holidays. I’ve seen a video before on their Halloween event and let’s just say, it looks pretty terrifying so you’d have to be quite hardcore to attend that one haha!
There’s plenty of different themed restaurants in Universal Studios. For example there’s Moe’s Tavern from the Simpsons which I think I will have to eat in just because its Moe’s Tavern..there’s also a pastry company, a bar and grill, an ice cream parlor and a doughnut shop!
Even though I am a bigger Disney fan, and more of Disney was part of my childhood, Universal Studios looks so cool and fun to experience. Personally, I think I may even enjoy Universal more than some of the Disney parks because of the rides there and the different theming of films and TV shows.
