WDW Prep 17 – Animal Kingdom Entertainment

2020 is here! A big old Happy New Year to you all. I can now FINALLY say ‘I’m going Walt Disney World this year’!!!!! That still seems surreal but wow am I excited for it!

Today’s post as you can tell by the title is the entertainment on offer at Animal Kingdom.

UP! A Great Bird Adventure is something I have seen a lot of people go to. Personally, I’m not sure if it’s something I would want to see because I’m not the biggest lover of birds. However, this is a show about birds with the characters of UP being involved to help entertain. It’s a very up close and personal show where birds will fly over your head and be very close to you, so I suggest, if you really hate birds that much then it may not be the show for you (this is my current debate of whether I’m brave enough). It’s only a 25 minute show so it is fairly short but it’s something different to do and see and also learn about birds! Do check the schedule for the show when you visit but currently the showings are at 10:30AM, 12PM, 1:30PM, 3:30PM and 5PM. Therefore, you do have a variety of showings throughout the day which may fit into your agenda.

Festival of the Lion King is a show I think everyone should see! From the clips I have seen of this on YouTube, it seems like a brilliant show! Obviously, it’s based on the Lion King which I’m sure is a favourite film for many people. It’s a broadway style show which has many songs involved too! It’s for all ages and lasts for 30 minutes. So, you can take some time out to relax and be entertained while cooling down in some air con! However, this show can be very busy so you can in fact get a fast pass for it, which may be your best option to secure your place to see it. There’s many showings throughout the day, 10AM, 11AM, 12PM, 1PM, 2PM, 3PM, 4PM, 5PM, 6PM, and 7PM. Plenty of showings, so hopefully you won’t miss it!

Along with the Lion King, there’s also a Finding Nemo show! It’s a musical that’s for 40 minutes, again for all ages. Disney describe this show as an ‘Extraordinary live musical performances, delightful puppets, vibrant sets and wondrous underwater special effects immerse you in Nemo’s fin-tastic world. Join the overprotective clownfish Marlin and his forgetful friend Dory as they search for his son, Nemo.’ How can you say no to this? Finding Nemo is an absolute classic film so I’m sure this musical is a fantastic watch! You can also get a fast pass for this, so clearly, the film shows at Animal Kingdom are very popular aka they’re very good…there are fewer showings for this but still available at 11AM, 12PM, 1PM, 2:30PM, 3:30PM and 4:30PM. But as I always say, make sure you check the times on the day you are going just in case of any changes.

Another great thing that people love to do at Animal Kingdom, is to meet Mickey and Minnie in their safari outfits. This can be achieved at the Adventurers Outpost between 9AM to 8:30PM. For some people this is a bucket list item so there is also a fast pass for this meet and greet. If you really want to meet them then I suggest ensuring it by having a fast pass.

Along with Mickey and Minnie, you can also meet Timon and Rafiki from the Lion King, Russell and Dug from UP and Pocahontas.

Rivers of Light is a nighttime show which celebrates nature through its special effects and music. This show is 17 minutes which is on at 6:30PM and 8PM. This show seriously looks incredible. It’s pretty insane the things that technology can do these days so it’s worth seeing! This show doesn’t include fireworks, but you’ll see such colourful scenes, and imagery. Seating is limited so you can either get a fast pass or make sure you arrive early before the show to secure your place.

There is also some music performances within the park such as Tam Tam Drummers of Harambe, Bollywood Beats and Pandora Drummers. With plenty of entertainment I doubt you’ll get bored (not that you probably would anyway)
